Missouri Attorney General Resigns to Join FBI

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey ‌will resign‌ effective September 8 to become co-Deputy Director of the FBI.He describes serving‌ as ‌Missouri’s 44th attorney general as a⁤ humbling privilege and extends his deepest gratitude‌ to President Trump and U.S. Attorney General⁣ Pam Bondi for the opportunity to join in their stated mission to make ⁢America safe ‍again.

bailey grew up in Columbia, attending Fairview Elementary, West Junior High, ‌and​ Rock Bridge High School. He served as an ​armored cavalry officer in⁣ the United States Army and later as general counsel⁣ for the Missouri Department of Corrections and the Governor’s⁤ office. He delivered a keynote address at the Boone County Lincoln Days​ in April 2023, drawing applause when he urged Columbia residents to vote in the city’s mayoral election.

Bailey’s office is currently conducting a probe into diversity,equity,and inclusion (DEI) programs.
