Missed the tsunami

British Angela Glover was found dead on Monday, after being missing since a tsunami hit Tonga on Saturday. This is confirmed by her brother, Nick Eleini Sky News.

– I do not have words in my vocabulary to describe how we feel right now. This is just a cruel shock, what has happened to us. We are ordinary people. Such things do not happen to people like us. But then it does, he told the attending press, according to the British news channel.

The brother further said that the sister was found in connection with a search organized by her husband, and that the heavy news had been conveyed to him on the trip to the UK from Australia, where he lives.

The news came the same day that Eleini told the newspaper The Guardian that he feared the worst.

– Now it’s 48 hours since it hit. Then I do not think this will have a happy ending, Nick Eleini told the newspaper.

Eleini, who lives in Sydney, spoke to The Guardian when he returned to the UK to be with his mother, who was also very anxious about her missing daughter.

50-year-old Angela was taken by the tsunami on the beach, along with her husband James Glover, and four of the couple’s dogs.

Angela ran an animal rescue home in Tonga.

Taken by the wave

– Angela and her husband were taken by the wave. “James managed to cling to a tree for quite some time, but Angela did not manage to do so and was taken by the strong waves,” Eleini told The Guardian.

Eleini further said that the sister and her husband must have taken care of the house of some friends on the west coast of the island of Tongatapu, Tonga’s main island, when the tsunami hit them. James returned to their house on the south coast of the island afterwards, but Angela did not show up.

– James contacted the police and the British embassy when he did not find Angela, and notified us of what had happened.

Eleini, who was crying while talking about her sister to The Guardian, said they were still searching for her.

– One of the dogs has been found, but Angela has not been found. It’s unbearable. I can not even believe that these words come out of my mouth, to be honest.

The Tonga Constitutional Monarchy is located in Oceania and consists of 169 islands. The archipelago is located over 3,000 kilometers northeast of Sydney in Australia and approximately 640 kilometers east of Fiji, according to Large Norwegian encyclopedia.

Submarine volcanic eruption

The island state was hit by a tsunami after a major eruption in an underwater volcano. Frightened inhabitants fled to higher-lying areas, but there were many who did not manage to reach the heights before the wave hit the island.

Photos and videos on social media, which are supposed to show the consequences of the eruption, but which have not been verified, show large bodies of water that wash ashore after the eruption.

Satellite images from the site also showed a five-kilometer-wide ash cloud that reached 20 kilometers into the air.

The effects of the tsunami, and the resulting ash cloud that has covered the islands, are feared to be enormous. It now warns of contaminated drinking water, seawater that destroys crops, as well as damage to homes and infrastructure.
