Mischa Zverev criticizes ATP and the bladder system

The German Mischa Zverev, Alexander’s older brother, was born in Moscow in 1987. In his career, he was in the top 25 in the world in 2017 when he reached the quarter-finals at the Australian Open and the second round at the US Open.

A single trophy on the shop window: The 2018 in the grass of Eastbourne, England, won the final against Lukas Lacko from Slovakia with a score of 6-4, 6-4 and is mainly dedicated to playing small tournaments.

Mischa Zverev: “I don’t like it at all”

The 33-year-old German’s last tournament was the Challenger in Oeiras, Portugal, where he lost to Tiago Cacao in three sets in the second round.

“You can’t choose many tournaments right now,” said Mischa, as posted on the Punto de Break website. “I don’t mind having to play futures and challengers. The ATP tour now only has ‘bubbles’ and I don’t like it at all.

I’m not looking for parties or anything like that, I just want to be able to run in the street or stretch without worrying about the rules. I want to lead a normal life in which I can keep up.

“The oldest of the Zverev brothers was still in the Miami Open Masters 1000 qualifiers, overtaking Danilo Petrovic and Italian Matteo Viola before losing to James Duckworth in three sets in the first round of the main draw.

Mischa reached two more finals on the ATP Tour in addition to the one he won in Eastbourne: in Metz in 2010 and in Geneva in 2017, defeated by Gilles Simon and Stan Wawrinka, respectively. During his career he only played once on the main tour against his brother Alexander: it took place three years ago in Washington, where he was beaten 6-3, 7-5.

Sascha recently surpassed Roger Federer by sixth place in the ATP rankings. The German player lost immediately in Miami, stopped by Emil Ruusuvuori. Photo credit: Teller Report
