Police investigate after fatal Gaines Street incident
An early Sunday morning shooting in Davenport has resulted in a murder charge for a Minnesota resident. The incident occurred on the 1700 block of Gaines Street, leaving one man dead and prompting an ongoing investigation.
Overnight Shooting Claims Life
Just after 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 8th, police, fire, and EMS units rushed to the 1700 block of Gaines Street following reports of gunfire. First responders discovered an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Despite immediate aid and transportation to a local hospital,the victim,later identified as Douglas C. Meier, 28, succumbed to his injuries.
Suspect Arrested, Charged
Law enforcement has apprehended a suspect in connection with the shooting. Alyx R. Hinton, 18, of Minnesota, faces serious charges including first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon, and going armed with intent.
