SimBasil Joseph won the Best Director award at the 2022 Asian Academy Awards held in Gappur. The award went to the film Minnal Murali. 16 countries competed for the award.
Basil Joseph himself shared the good news with his fans. The video of the actor receiving the award is also viral on social media.
“I am very happy and proud to have been selected as Best Director from sixteen countries at the Asian Academy Awards 2022 held in Singapore. I am also very proud to represent India on this stage as a part of Malayalam cinema. I am sure this award will elevate us globally.
My heart embraces all the film crew such as my Netflix film distributor, actors, writers, cinematographer and so on. Thanks to everyone who believed in me and was part of the film. “Without you, this superhero would not have existed,” said Basil Joseph.

Minnal Murali was released on screens on 31st December 2022. The movie released on Netflix was accepted by people regardless of language. Tovino Thomas, Guru Somasundaram, Aju Varghese, Baiju, Harishree Asokan and Mamukoya Femina George. Bijukuttan, Shelly, Sneha Babu and Jude Anthani Joseph played the lead roles.
