Jakarta, InfoPublik – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has increased the number of mandatory routine immunizations in Indonesia, which is a government program, from 11 vaccines to 14 vaccines.

Minister of Health (Menkes), Budi Gunadi Sadikin, through his official statement Saturday (23/4/2022) said immunization was the most appropriate and inexpensive way to prevent maternal and child deaths.

“Vaccination is one of the health interventions that is cheaper and more effective than intervention when someone has been admitted to hospital,” said Minister of Health Budi.

The addition of three immunizations is the Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV), the Rotavirus vaccine, and the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine.

The PCV vaccine aims to prevent pneumonia, inflammation of the lining of the brain, and inflammation of the ear caused by Pneumococcal bacteria. The vaccine is starting this year nationwide.
