Minister of Health: Egypt ranks fourth in the Arab world and 26th globally in medical tourism

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, said at the opening of the Cairo Doctors Syndicate conference on medical tourism entitled “Medicine and Tourism in the Land of Kinana”, that Egypt possesses much more the elements of the medical tourism compared to its ranking on the global medical tourism map, as Egypt ranks fourth in the Arab world and 26th globally.

The Minister of Health and Population added that the components of medical tourism are doctors, hospitals, tourist services and the cost of treatment.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stressed that a committee must guide the development of medical tourism within a plan where coordination with all stakeholders is achieved and indicated that a decision will soon be issued by the Prime Minister, emphasizing the need for the Syndicate of doctors to collaborate and coordinate with it. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar pointed Al-Ghaffar pointed out that the unprofessional handling of medical matters by the media, by treating individual cases and exaggerating them, seriously harms medical tourism.
