jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin revealed that the new monkeypox or monkeypox that was transmitted by tilapia was already showing symptoms.

“This (monkeypox, ed) is only contagious if the symptoms are visible,” said Budi, quoted from his statement, Wednesday (27/7).

He explained that monkeypox is different from Covid-19 because it is transmitted through physical contact with sufferers.

The monkeypox virus is transmitted through body fluids that blister from the rash or red spots of the sufferer.

The initial symptom of monkeypox is fever and then a rash or red spots appear on certain body parts.

These spots should be immediately taken fluid for laboratory examination. Generally, the disease can heal in two to four weeks.

Until now, continued Budi, no cases of monkeypox have been detected in Indonesia.

The Ministry of Health recorded nine suspected cases of monkeypox but the results of whole genome sequencing showed that the nine cases were not monkeypox.
