Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong to Expand Quota for Medical Schools in 2025 Academic Year

Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong emphasized that he would push forward with a strong will to expand the quota for medical schools in the 2025 academic year.

Minister Cho appeared on SBS Radio today (5th) and said, “The number of doctors per 1,000 population in Korea is the lowest in the OECD.”

Then, he said, “Since the 2024 college entrance examination guidelines have already been released, we will do our best to reflect them in the 2025 medical school quota.”

Minister Cho added, ″Even if we increase the number of medical schools now, it will take more than 10 years to put them into the field, so we will improve working conditions so that doctors can go to areas where there are no doctors on their own through reasonable compensation.”
