Minister of Health Affirms Covid-19 Vaccine Certificate Can Not Be a Condition to Board an Airplane

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that people must take a Covid-19 test before traveling using it plane or traveling out of town.

He asserted, Covid-19 vaccine certificate cannot be used as a condition for traveling by plane.

“You can’t (use a vaccine certificate for traveling), you can’t until now,” Budi said in a working meeting with Commission IX of the DPR which was broadcast on the YouTube channel of the DPR RI, Monday (15/3/2021).

Budi said that the discourse on the Covid-19 vaccine certificate as a condition for traveling by plane or out of town had been conveyed at the beginning of his tenure as Minister of Health.

However, this discourse was protested by epidemiologists because there was no guarantee that after being vaccinated you could not contract the Corona virus.

“So there are still many epidemiologist friends who suggest that if you want to be conservative, you should not first, but later we can discuss this matter, if there are many who are vaccinated, it may also make sense,” he said.

Budi also said that the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention made a relaxation of health protocols if vaccinations had passed 30-40 percent.

He said that Indonesia would later be able to imitate the policy made by the United States.

“Later we can learn from there after we touch 30-40 percent of the population, now it’s only 10 percent of our target,” he said.
