Minister of Cooperatives Teten Scheme Value of 20 Percent + IDR 1,000 Owned by GoFood Burdens MSMEs Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Gojek through its food delivery service, GoFood, has implemented a commission scheme of 20 percent + IDR 1,000 to business partners who are members of GoFood since March 5, 2021.

Responding to this, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki said, the determined rate was too burdensome for MSMEs.

“The tariff is 15 percent, 20 percent, too heavy. So thank God, if it can be lowered again,” said Teten in a Memorandum of Understanding with the Istiqlal Mosque Management Body which was broadcast virtually on Thursday (25/3/2021).

According to Teten, if this scheme is implemented it will make MSMEs a little bit of a commission.

“The application does not have items to sell, so the commission is small for MSMEs,” he said.

Previously, the UMKM Association (Akumindo) had also opened its voice regarding this policy.

Chairman of the Indonesian MSME Association (Akumindo) Ikhsan Ingratubun assessed that the attitude that GoFood has shows its arrogance towards MSMEs.

He argued that the application of 20 percent + Rp 1,000 should not be charged to SME merchant partners.

“The customers or buyers should be charged. Because the ones who get the profit are the buyers. We from the association see that the application has started to be arrogant towards MSMEs,” said Ikhsan.

Ikhsan explained, if the scheme is implemented, then the sellers or MSME actors, such as those who work or seek money for platform providers.

So, the commission scheme that MSMEs get is actually reduced.

According to him, in terms of utilizing this application, it is actually the buyer who has many advantages.

This is because buyers do not need to pay for transportation costs, do not need parking fees and there is no risk of accidents of a physical nature.

“So if you look at this, the buyer has no problem with additional costs. Do not charge it to merchants,” he said.

Ikhsan also assessed that the application of this tariff is not in line with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ‘s siding with MSMEs.

“Pak Jokowi told to love UMKM products and I think this is not in line with what he asked for. GoFood and other applications should be aware,” Ikhsan explained.
