Valais Officials deny Prior Knowledge of Engagement Center Relocation
The swiss army has confirmed the relocation of an engagement center, citing operational synergies with the Department of Defense’s alarm power plant, which is already managed by the army’s logistics base in Thoune.Military police will continue to oversee the center’s operations. The army also stated that significant investments would have been required to upgrade the existing sion site.
While the army asserts that the canton of Valais was previously informed of the relocation plans, Stéphane Ganzer, the State Councilor responsible for the Security Department, stated that the canton had not received any official notification regarding the move.Reports indicate a similar lack of official communication for the city of Sion.
