Military aid to Ukraine comes slowly – what is the reason

As the ex-chief of the press service of the General Staff, Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladislav Seleznev explained to the publication, the allies simply cannot give Ukraine all their weapons.

“Do our Western partners have such weapons and equipment that the Ukrainian army needs? Will they give these weapons? No, because they cannot critically reduce the level of their own combat capability, which is a lot of what the Ukrainian army needs to make from scratch,” says Seleznev.

It follows from this that the main problem is not that the allies refuse to help, but a lot of things rest on time – for bureaucratic red tape, for deliveries, which do not always go by plane, and for the training of our soldiers.

Even the Lend-Lease program expected in Ukraine will start working only from October 1, when the new financial year begins in the United States.

A military expert, Colonel Sergei Grabsky, explained that this equipment, which is now coming to us, has not been used for 20-30 years and needs to be repaired, and in fact, much more is coming.

At the same time, according to open sources, 40% of the stocks of Javelins from American warehouses were transferred to Ukraine.

At the same time, expert Grabsky gave another example: only 266 tanks are officially in service in the UK, then we have up to 3 thousand, and Germany officially has only 38 multiple launch rocket systems in service, excluding stocks in warehouses.

“When we talk about Poland, this is one of the countries that is aware of the danger – it does not have a single piece of towed artillery. They only have self-propelled artillery and there is very little of it. At the same time, they gave us their state order for the Crab self-propelled guns,” providing four divisions,” Grabsky noted.

That is, as experts explain, now the West has to increase the work of its defense industry in a rather short period of time and turn off the path of “demilitarization”, which they embarked on thirty years ago.

Recall that recently the German government published a complete list of military equipment and weapons, which inincluded in the package of military assistance to Ukraine for 2022.

In addition, we also know that Spain intends to provide Ukraine with 10 Leopard tanks and 20 armored personnel carriers.
