Dozens of migrants tried again on Thursday evening Border fence at the Greek village Kastanies to storm. They lit fires and hurled incendiaries and stones at the Greek from the Turkish side police. For their part, the Greek security forces used tear gas, water cannons and powerful fans to drive the smoke from the fires back to the migrants. This was reported by reporters and several Greek media from the border region of Kastanies. The situation calmed down again in the evening, it was said from circles of the border police.
The Turkey had declared in late February the border to EU be open to migrants from now on. Then thousands set out to get out of the Turkey to Greece and thus in the EU to get. Greece however, fends off people. The EU supported Athens, for example with aid and through the EU border agency Frontex.
