Microsoft begins a program that tests Xbox and PC games for accessibility, the company announced in a message on its website.
Game studios can send their games to Microsoft for testing against the company’s accessibility guidelines. A team of gamers with disabilities, among others, tests the games.
As part of the testing process, Microsoft will let the developer know where playing a game can be difficult for someone with disabilities. When asked, the company also provides tips to make a game more accessible.
Microsoft has also revised its accessibility guidelines. For example, language use has been simplified, examples have been added and extra context is provided.
Microsoft already released a customizable controller out for people with physical disabilities. Additional buttons, joysticks and other components can be added to the Adaptive Controller for Xbox.
