Microsoft Stops Production of Xbox One Console, Why?

KOMPAS.com – Microsoft rumored to have stopped all production console Xbox One.

The software giant initially only discontinued the digital Xbox One X and Xbox One S prior to the launch of the Xbox Series X.

But then quietly, Microsoft finally stopped producing the Xbox One S at the end of 2020 and sold the remaining stock to the retail market.

“To focus on production of Xbox Series X/S, we are ceasing production for all Xbox One consoles at the end of 2020.”

This was stated by the Senior Director of Marketing for Xbox console products, Cindy Walker, in a statement to The Verge.

Microsoft’s confirmation came right at the time of the report Bloomberg advised Sony to end PS4 production at the end of 2021.

However, Sony will still be producing around one million PS4 consoles by 2022.

Sony also revealed that they are producing PS4 in the midst of an effort to meet demand for the latest PS5 console.

Meanwhile, Microsoft seems to be able to meet demand for the Xbox Series S for 299 US dollars or Rp. 4.2 million.

And, now the Xbox Series S is available on Amazon for in England and Best Buy in the US.

Xbox head Phil Spencer said the company had built more Xbox Series X consoles than the S Series, but that ultimately the lower price point of the S Series would win out.

“We can actually make more chip S series in dead space chip the same as Series X,” he said.

“That’s the main reason why we’re seeing stable stock of the Xbox Series S, in addition to Microsoft’s decision to quietly discontinue the Xbox One S in favor of the next-gen console.”
