Microsoft Splits Ignite Conference – IT Magazine

7. August 2020 –
Microsoft’s Ignite conference is being held as a two-part digital event. The first online conference will take place from September 22nd to 24th, and a second event is scheduled for early 2021.

Actually, this year’s edition of Microsoft’s Ignite technology conference was to take place in New Orleans from September 21-25. But the pandemic also thwarted the event plans of the Redmond technology giant and in May those responsible announced that all events would be held as digital events by the summer of 2021.

It has just been announced what the digital version of the Ignite conference planned for September should look like. According to one Blog post Microsoft’s chief marketing officer Chris Capossela now wants to split the event, which originally lasted one week, into two 48-hour events that can be attended free of charge by anyone interested. The first event will take place in the same time window as the originally planned conference from September 22nd to 24th. Registrations will be accepted from September 3rd. A second event will then take place in early 2021, although no specific date has yet been announced. It emphasizes that the second ignite event is not intended to replace the Build developer conference. (rd)
