Microsoft releases Windows fixes for VPN issues and bootloop domain controllers – Computer – News

Microsoft has made so-called Out-of-band updates available for various Windows versions. These include fixes for issues related to domain controllers, virtual machines, VPN connections, and ReFS mounts, among others.

Microsoft makes the updates for Windows 11 and various Windows 10 and Windows Server 2022 versions available as optional update through Windows Update. For Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, and Windows Server 2012, fixes are available through the Microsoft Update Catalog.

The updates are intended to address multiple issues caused by the updates Microsoft released for Windows last week as part of its January Patch Tuesday Update Round. With those updates, Microsoft closed vulnerabilities and also included fixes, but system administrators complained after implementation that they spontane reboots en bootloops of domain controllers.

There were also reports that Hyper-V stopped starting and that ReFS volumes could no longer mount. Microsoft reports that the Out-of-band updates should address these issues. Also would problems with VPN connections using L2TP or Ipsec IKE should no longer exist after updating the Windows versions.
