Microsoft is cutting 11,000 jobs worldwide

Microsoft has announced a new round of layoffs in which 11,000 jobs will disappear. The American tech giant is in trouble because consumers are spending less money now that the economy is getting worse. It is still unclear whether jobs will be lost in our country.

Microsoft is cutting about 5 percent of its workforce. The layoffs follow some cutbacks that Microsoft already implemented last year. According to news agency Reuterswhich says it has seen a message to Microsoft staff, CEO Satya Nadella says consumers are “cautious about their spending as some parts of the world are in recession and others are expecting a recession‘. The layoffs will take place later this year.

The most recent rounds of layoffs at the tech company were in July and October of 2022. Vacancies were mainly withdrawn and a recruitment freeze was introduced. The new layoffs would mainly affect HR and engineering positions.

If thousands of jobs are actually lost at Microsoft, the company will follow the example of other American tech giants who have laid off thousands of employees in recent months. Amazon, for example, will lose 18,000 jobs and Meta, Facebook’s parent company, will cut 11,000 jobs. As the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk fired half of the staff.

Microsoft already warned in October that the cloud services of the group are not running as well as in recent years.
