Microsoft Flight Simulator: The physical version will be held on 10 DVDs – News

As we announced on Monday, Microsoft Flight Simulator will be released on August 18 on PC, Xbox One, as well as in the Game Pass. Also, a physical version, designed by Aerosoft, will be available in Europe on PC.

A physical version that will hold on ten double-layer DVDs, in a case which will therefore be of quite respectable thickness. The announcement was made on forum d’Aerosoft by Mathijs Kok, administrator. He explains that the physical versions should be shipped around August 21, but take the opportunity to detail functioning and interest of this version, the game massively using cloud gaming techniques.

Microsoft Flight Simulator, contains four main parts (Note that the sizes are estimates of what we know right now). The game code itself, rather light, but mandatory, the game world and the planes delivered by Microsoft (which depend on the version), all doing about 90 GB, the content broadcast online (optional), and third-party files (fully optional). Our DVDs contain “everything”, except for the updates that Microsoft and Asobo will make between the time the DVDs are pressed and the time they are sold.

Mathijs Kok goes on to say that during installation, files will be automatically updated to the most recent version of the code. Finally, he recalls that the game takes advantage of the cloud, and that you must be able to use it to enjoy the game “to its full potential. Thus, this physical version will allow the most modest connections to be spared the initial download, but players will enjoy the same game.

There is no difference between canned retail and the version that Microsoft sells directly.
