Microsoft Fabric Expands Beyond Data Unification, Paving the way for enterprise AI
Microsoft is extending it’s data analytics platform, Microsoft Fabric, beyond data unification too focus on organizational readiness for next-generation AI, unveiled at FabCon Vienna. The expansion builds on existing capabilities and introduces new tools designed to empower businesses to build data-rich agents with an enterprise-grade foundation.

According to Ashish Atchagan, corporate Vice President of Azure Data, the platform is designed to “build data-rich agents on an enterprise-ready foundation.” key components of the expanded fabric ecosystem include deeper integration with Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, GitHub, and Visual Studio Code.
The platform leverages OneLake, Microsoft’s data lake, as a single source of truth, and is enhanced by capabilities within GitHub Codespaces for collaborative advancement. These advancements are intended to streamline the process of building and deploying AI-powered solutions, reducing complexity and accelerating time to market.
