Microsoft: Defender adds AI protection against ransomware

The tech giant Microsoft you are adding a detection system ransomware attacks powered by artificial intelligence for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint users.

This new implementation complements protection in existing cloud systems by assessing risks and blocking potential threats at the edge.

Since the attacks of rasonmware possess a human factor composed of a specific set of methods and behaviors, Microsoft wants to anticipate and detect these types of attacks by training a artificial intelligence.

Anticipation is the key

The protection system powered by artificial intelligence could detect unusual behavior, even indicators generated by legitimate binaries, it can be a crucial filter to save time and thwart attacks from ransomware.

As indicated Microsoft, the new one adaptive protection it can detect and block seemingly benign operations, which are used by ransomware attackers during the reconnaissance phase.

“Hypothetically, in attacks where early to mid-stage attack activities are not detected or blocked, adaptive protection powered by artificial intelligence can still prove great value when it comes to the final payload of ransomware.” Microsoft explains
