On Tuesday Microsoft announced intentions to buy the gaming company Activision Blizzard for almost $ 69 billion. Activision Blizzard owns games such as Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft, Overwatch, Call of Duty and Candy Crash. We probably won’t see Linux ports (but we can be surprised). However, there could be more sales of games via Steam, which so far only sells Call of Duty. On Steam, it is then convenient to use Proton and play Windows games on Linux.
The deal will still be reviewed and should close next year. If it does, Microsoft will be the third largest gaming company by profit for Tencent and Sony.
