Microsoft Blocks Apps That Prevent People From Using Edge Browser

JAKARTA – Microsoft is furious about an app that can prevent people from using its new Edge browser on Windows 11. It seems the company wants everyone to use Edge as a browser. default they

The reason is, Microsoft is said to have blocked EdgeDeflector from its system. EdgeDeflector is a third-party developer that makes it easy for users to opt out of Microsoft Edge in Windows 11, which works like a search on the Taskbar.

Report The Verge, Tuesday, November 16, explained that this block was originally seen in Windows 11 Build 22000.346 for the release preview and beta channel, “We fixed an issue where OS functionality could be routed incorrectly when a microsoft-edge link was invoked,” Microsoft said in a statement.

With the change, application developers can no longer call the microsoft-edge protocol link. According to the company, Windows openly enables applications and services on its platform, including various web browsers.

“At the same time, Windows also offers a customer experience end-to-end In certain instances in Windows 10 and Windows 11, the search experience from the taskbar is one example of an end-to-end experience that is not designed to be switched. When we become aware of an inappropriate redirect, we issue a fix,” explained Microsoft.

However, EdgeDeflector developer Daniel Aleksandersen, is not happy with Microsoft’s decision. He himself says nearly 500,000 people have used his app.

“This is no longer the act of a caring company that cares about its product. Microsoft is not a good manager of the Windows operating system. They prioritize advertising, bundleware and service subscriptions over user productivity,” said Aleksandersen.
