The pandemic changed many things in the world, including the forms of interaction and this accelerated the integration of the activities of daily life in virtual environments. Today, as a result of the Facebook event, we are looking forward to the metaverse, a concept that seeks to merge virtual and augmented realities, and Microsoft did the same with Mesh, a similar environment but in this case it is also designed for gaming.

Microsoft thinks about the metaverse and what it could do with the Xbox environment

After the presentation of Microsoft Mesh, a virtual environment designed for online meetings, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, spoke about the potential of this proposal, which is also part of the metaverse concept. In that sense, Nadella referred to what could happen with gaming and that is that the integration of Xbox to the metaverse is something that they will take into account: “absolutely, you can expect us to do things like that in video games. Halo like a game, it has its own metaverse. Minecraft is also a metaverse and Flight Simulator in the same way. In a sense, they are currently in 2D, and the question would be if we plan to turn them into a 3D environment and will we absolutely have plans for that. “

It is important to take into account that this is only an idea for the future because the first thing that will have to be considered is the reception of the metaverse and its potential to integrate into people’s life experiences. Perhaps, from there, plans will take shape to do something similar in gaming.

What do you think of the metaverse? What uses do you see in the concept for the world of video games?
