The first Apple Watch models to benefit from a micro-LED display would be the Series 9 or the Series 10.
There are many rumors about the adoption of micro-LED technology by Apple, and have been for several years. If it was question that the iPhone takes advantage, the Apple Watch were not spared. Moreover, according to some rumors in the hallway, the next model of connected watch would be equipped with a micro-LED screen. A rumor that the CEO of Epistar, Twaiwan’s top LED producer and Apple partner, recently contradicted to Digitimes.
According to him, we should not expect to see Apple Watch equipped with a micro-LED screen for several years. He estimates that the first generation to take advantage of it would be the Series 9 or the Series 10, two models that are not expected until 2023-2024.
A delay which is partly explained by the fact that the screen of this type of product is particularly small. This is why the development of such a component takes time. Especially since micro-LED technology is not yet fully developed.

Companies like Epistar once had difficulty producing these displays, but our company is now able to use what is called mass transfer technology to make a display in one manufacturing process. As a reminder, micro-LED technology offers reduced energy consumption and also makes it possible to produce thinner screens.
While waiting for the arrival of this technology on headed products, rumor has it that Apple is preparing a first device equipped with a mini-LED screen; an iPad Pro to be released this year.
