Starting this Monday, Michoacán will shield its borders with neighboring states with the aim of preventing contagion from the outbreak of new coronavirus COVID-19 reach more people in the entity.
In a press conference, the Governor of Michoacán, Silvano Aureoles Conejo, reported the measure of shield borders with the states of Colima, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Guerrero and the State of Mexico.
- The state president, who was accompanied by the head of the entity’s Health Secretariat, as well as other members of his government cabinet, announced the operation on March 30.
What does it mean to shield Michoacán’s borders against COVID-19?
Shielding the borders of Michoacán with the rest of the entities is part of the Michoacán operation COVID-19 We take care of your health, which aims to monitor and follow up in a timely manner and detect possible cases of coronavirus before they enter the state.
For this, sanitary filters will be installed on the borders with Colima, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Guerrero and the State of Mexico, where staff from the Michoacán Health Secretariat will be located to identify suspected cases of coronavirus (Orthocoronavirinae).
- Likewise, 632 elements of the Michoacán Police will participate in this operation, these agents will provide information about the pandemic of coronavirus COVID-19.
Michoacán Police officers will work in the border shielding with elements of:
- National Guard
- Mexican Army
- Navy of Mexico
During the application of the measure against COVID-19, it was reported that there will be no abuses and that free transit and constitutional rights will be respected.
- So far, in the state of Michoacán a total of 22 positive cases of COVID-19.
- Of these, 14 are located in Morelia, six in Lázaro Cárdenas and two in Uruapan.
