Bologna, 27 November 2021 – “Good morning, the use of the e-mail is solely for the request of chronic therapy. For any other reason, call the secretariat. Furthermore, we ask that you do not send photos. ” With these few and aseptic words, at 11.59 on 26 May, the e-mail of Michele Merlo it would be returned to the sender. An email with which the singer and former competitor of the talent Amici had reported for the first time the symptoms of what would have turned out to be the fulminant leukemia that after eleven days, on June 6, I he would later kill at the Maggiore hospital.
A report complete with photos, the one that the associated practice of his family doctor in Rosà, in the province of Vicenza, would have asked him by e-mail “not to send”. A shocking photo, very eloquent, in which Merlo shows a large hematoma on the inside of the thigh of the leg left, an indication of the disease that would not have been caught and that, indeed, the 28-year-old from Vicenza would have seen an almost reproachful response delivered by a faceless person, by any “study assistant” who, in front of the photos attached would be limited to “cordial greetings”.
Un’mmagine that together with others and together with the e-mails has now ended up straight in the file for manslaughter opened by the Bologna prosecutor’s office and a few days ago changed hands, ending up in the competence of the Vicenza magistrates (given that the work of the Bolognese doctors was considered corrected by pm).
Retracing the stages of that fulminating disease that took the life of Michele Merlo, aka Mike Bird, the first signs would date back to 7 May, with four bruises of about 4 centimeters at the height of the right deltoid and two centimeters on the left forearm . Then other bruises, more extensive, on the arm and thigh, the one also reported in the email of 26 May by the singer, after whose reply was received at 11.59, according to the memory arranged by the Merlo family’s lawyer, Marco Antonio Dal Ben, the 28 years old would have decided to go to the emergency room of the hospital of Cittadella, in Padua.
Now, it will be the task of the Vicenza prosecutor’s office to establish whether among these messages, emails and photographs there may be sufficient elements to establish whether someone could have diagnosed Michele’s problem. All critical points highlighted by the Bolognese magistrates when they forwarded the dossier to their Venetian colleagues.
Because now “the family is not looking for a culprit at all costs – as declared in recent days by the lawyer Dal Ben – but a true assessment of what happened and led to his death”, yes.
