Miami-London flight turns halfway for passenger without face mask

The passengers of a flight that covered the route Miami-London They arrived late at their destination and lived moments of despair, after the airplane had to turn back halfway because of a passenger who refused to use face mask.

“American Airlines Flight 38, from Miami to London, was returned to Miami due to a customer refusing the federal requirement to wear a face mask,” the airline said in a statement.

The Boeing 777, carrying 129 passengers and 14 crew members, was greeted on its return, at Florida, by miami police.

“Once the plane reached the gate, the passenger was escorted by police without incident,” authorities told CNN.

American Airlines, for its part, specified that the client involved in this incident was placed on the company’s “internal rejection list” and will conduct an investigation of the incident.

The civil aviation regulatory body, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA, for its acronym in English) declared in January 2021 a policy of zero tolerance towards passengers who refuse to wear a mask or face covering.

On-board personnel have reported a significant number of cases of verbal violence or physical on the part of travelers dissatisfied with the measure.
