Argentine Lionel Messi is considering returning to Argentina, after the end of his career with Barcelona in the summer of 2021, with contacts from officials of Newell’s Old Boys.
The French “Le 10 Sport” website confirmed on Sunday that Old Boys captain Maxi Rodriguez had spoken to Messi on more than one occasion to discuss his playing for the team in the near future.
The Barcelona star has repeatedly stated that he loves Newells Old Boys, as he is his favorite team locally, so this request can be turned into a reality if he agrees to play there.
It is worth noting that Messi has a contract with Barcelona that expires after a year and a half, with a clause allowing him to leave after the end of the current season if he wanted to.
