Rio de Janeiro – Even before the final of the Copa America, Lionel Messi and Neymar were voted the best players in the South American Championship.
In every game they had demonstrated their skills, which made them players with technical and tactical quality as well as with intelligence with and without the ball, said a commission of experts from the South American football association Conmebol. “It is impossible to choose only one best player, because this tournament has two best players,” said the message.
Messi had scored four goals and provided five assists during the Copa America before the final between Argentina and Brazil (Sunday, 2:00 a.m. CEST) in the legendary Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Neymar scored twice and was involved in three other goals. Neymar wants to defend the title in his own country with his Seleção, Messi finally wants to win an international title with the Argentine national team.
