Photo: Steffen Deeg A new cooperation agreement between the social department of the city of Würzburg and the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Regionalverband Würzburg-Mainfranken eV now permanently seals the successful merger as a volunteer agency in Würzburg, according to a press release. The volunteer agency was founded in November 2017 as part of a three-year model project funding from the Bavarian State Ministry for Labor and Social Affairs, Family and Integration (StMAS). In a cooperation project, the city of Würzburg and the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Würzburg came together to comprehensively promote and further develop voluntary work in the city. Social Officer Dr. Hülya Düber is pleased, together with the managing director of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, Michael Holzwarth, that the cooperation agreement that has now been signed will further consolidate this successful cooperation. The joint contact and advice center handles all questions relating to civic engagement in Würzburg. This offer includes both detailed advice to volunteers on the one hand and to organizations and associations. The consultation is followed by a tailored placement of the volunteers. The implementation of advanced training programs for volunteers, the promotion of young people’s commitment and the “Voluntary Integration Guide” project are also part of the large portfolio of the Würzburg volunteer agency 800 personal consultations In the past three years, more than 800 personal consultations have been carried out in the Würzburg volunteer agency. In addition, there is a steadily increasing number of telephone and digital inquiries. In contrast, there are around 300 organizations, facilities or initiatives in Würzburg that are looking for volunteers. Even during the corona pandemic, the volunteer agency played an important role in the placement of volunteers. Within a few days, around 400 people offered their voluntary support. As one of 32 new cities and municipalities, Würzburg was accepted into the Engaged City network program on July 1st. The Würzburg volunteer agency successfully participated in the application process and received the “Committed City” award. During a three-year project phase, one focus will be on conveying civic engagement for people in transition into retirement. In addition, the company’s commitment in Würzburg is to be further strengthened. The volunteer agency is a contact and advice center for volunteer work. It is located at Karmelitenstrasse 43.
