Mercenary boss’s ambition to become president of Ukraine to replace Zelensky

Kyiv

Leader of Wagner’s paramilitary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, expressed his political ambitions. The mercenary boss has ambitions to run for President of Ukraine in 2024 replacing Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“Looking at everything around me, I have political ambitions. I decided to run for president in 2024. For President of Ukraine,” said Prigozhin in a video uploaded on Telegram, reported by Anadolu Agency, Sunday (12/3/2023).

Prigozhin hopes to compete with former presidents Petro Poroshenko and Zelenskyy in fighting for the number 1 seat in Ukraine. If he wins, he ensures that Ukraine will be fine.

“If I win the election for President of Ukraine, then everything will be fine, friends, no bullets are needed,” he said.

Asked why he complained about the Russian defense industry’s poor supply of ammunition and did not buy it himself, Prigozhin said if he had bought everything with his own money, it would have been “state management, not business.”

According to him, the Wagner group needs about 10,000 tons of ammunition, worth about $1 billion, every month.

Regarding human losses, Prigozhin said, “combatants die in war anyway, war is created in such a way that one soldier kills another.”
