Mercedes-Benz has announced a massive US recall campaign. In total, the service action will affect 12,799 GLE and GLS vehicles. As reported Carscoops with reference to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the reason for the recall is the glowing logo, which can optionally be installed on the cars of the German brand.
The department believes that such a logo can negatively affect the operation of the wiring. In particular, problems can arise with the power steering, and the optics may malfunction. All of this can lead to a significant increase in the risk of getting into an accident. Whether such accidents have happened before is not reported.
A total of 9642 GLE vehicles in 2020 and 3157 GLS vehicles also this year will be affected by the service campaign. The service centers promised to check the grounding of the electrical component of the emblem. All works will be carried out free of charge for owners of recalled vehicles.
Earlier it became known that Rolls-Royce will no longer equip its cars with an illuminated “Spirit of Ecstasy” statuette. The British have been offering this option to their customers for four years.
