MENU. The decline continues in hospitals and nearly 19.7 million first-time vaccinated

In its daily report, this Friday May 14, Public Health France announced 7,025 new contaminations in the Covid-19 recorded in the last 24 hours, in France. A figure that is not comparable to last week (19,124 on May 7). This number of new cases is indeed underestimated because of the Ascension Bridge, where a low number of tests were carried out.

At the hospital, the decline continues, with 4,352 patients in intensive care. Despite the Ascension Bridge, nearly 600,000 doses of vaccine have been administered in the past 24 hours. The famous goal of 20 million first-time vaccinated in mid-May, would be achieved tomorrow, wrote the Minister of Health Olivier Véran on his account Twitter.

With these some 7,000 new cases, the average contamination over the last seven days now stands at 14,420 per day. An average, as has been said, underestimated with the effect of the Ascension Bridge.

In addition, the positivity rate is 3.9%, against 5% yesterday.

The incidence rate is falling everywhere except Guyana

Nationally, the incidence rate drops to 168.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The curve has fallen sharply for several weeks.

Guyana, an overseas department particularly affected by the Brazilian variant, becomes the territory with the highest incidence rate in France, with 382 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

In mainland France, only Seine-Saint-Denis remains at the level of 300 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. More than half of the departments have an incidence rate of between 50 and 150.

Here is the incidence rate over seven rolling days by department, as of May 11, 2021 (consolidated data for the most recent at D + 3):

As well as the evolution by department:

The most affected regions remain Ile-de-France and Hauts-de-France. In the departments of the West, the highest levels are found in Sarthe (238), Seine-Maritime (211) and Orne (206).

A sharp drop in the hospital

Five days before the second stage of deconfinement, French hospitals are currently treating 23,406 patients with Covid-19, a figure down to 250 patients compared to the previous day.

In addition, 4,352 patients are cared for in critical care services (resuscitation, intensive care and continuing care). That is to say 90 patients less compared to the day before. The decline continues in the hospital.

Finally, 173 new deaths linked to Covid-19 have been recorded in hospitals. The human toll of the epidemic in France goes to 107,452 deaths in total.

Nearly 19.7 million first-time vaccinated

This Friday, May 14, according to the Ministry of Health, 598,639 doses of anti-Covid vaccine were administered in France during the last 24 hours despite the Ascension Bridge.

Here is the evolution of the number of people partially and fully vaccinated:

A total of 19,706,931 people received at least one injection (i.e. 29.4% of the total population and 37.5% of the adult population) and 8,705,141 people received two injections (i.e. 13% of the total population). and 16.6% of the adult population).

“Tomorrow, 20 million French people will have received at least one vaccine injection”, predicted the Minister of Health Olivier Véran on his Twitter account.

In addition, he also confirmed that doctors and pharmacists could order Moderna vaccines as early as next week in order to administer them to their patients.
