Men’s Swimming Earn Split in Tri-Meet; Women’s Team Falls

WILKES-BARRE, PA – King’s College men’s and women’s swimming teams split their weekend competition, with the men securing a victory over Lycoming College before falling to Penn State Altoona, while⁤ the women’s team ⁢was defeated by​ both Lycoming and Penn State Altoona.

The ⁢Monarchs men’s team demonstrated strength⁢ in individual events and relays.andrew Scheckner led the ⁤charge,winning the 100 backstroke‍ in 55.26 seconds and anchoring the‌ 200 freestyle relay ​to a‌ second-place time of 1:34.78 alongside Chase Kubis, Dutko, and ⁢Kyle McDevitt.‍ N earned a win in the 200 butterfly,finishing in 2:04.66.‌ Kubis also⁤ had a‍ strong showing, placing third in the 50⁣ free (23.46) and second⁢ in the 100 free (52.79). Stefan Lakoseljac and noah Dunbar contributed to the team’s score with top-five finishes ⁣in sprint and mid-distance events. The men⁣ closed the meet with a 400​ freestyle relay time of 3:38.55, swum by Kubis, Lakoseljac, Dutko, and Scheckner.

On the ‍women’s side, Stefany ‌Malaga Nunez delivered consistent performances in the 200 IM (2:58.67) and 100 backstroke (1:17.34). ‌Abigayle Cryan and Athena ‌Gerlek showed continued betterment in multiple freestyle events, and Malaga Nunez added a 1:09.98 in the 100 free.

King’s will next compete ​at home on Saturday at the Scandlon ​Natatorium against St.⁤ Joseph’s Long‍ Island.
