Men’s Golf Tournament Preview: SUU Thunderbirds Head to California

CEDAR CITY, Utah ⁣- The Southern‍ Utah University men’s golf team is preparing to compete in their final fall tournament, heading to the Pat Hicks Invitational hosted by UNLV, October 23-24‌ at the Bear’s Best Las vegas.

The ⁤Thunderbirds are coming off a 13th-place finish at the SIUE ‍Dolenc Invitational,where they​ recorded a season-low nine-under-par 275 in the second ⁢round,finishing​ with a three-round total of 859 (295-275-289). This tournament ‍marks the last​ opportunity for⁢ SUU to refine their game before the winter break and build⁢ momentum heading into the spring season.

Currently ⁣leading the team in stroke ‌average is​ Uy Doan with a 71.3 average ⁣through nine rounds, including ⁤six ‌rounds of even par‌ or better. Jing-Cheng (Jarell) Wang closely ⁣follows‍ with a 72.3 season average. ⁢Charlie Gillespie showcased a strong performance ‍at the Dolenc Invitational, carding‍ a second-round 66 (-5), ‌the team’s lowest score of the week and a new collegiate career low. Braylon​ Bingham has⁤ also demonstrated consistent‌ play, consistently shooting ⁢in the low ⁣70s.

The SUU lineup ​for the Pat Hicks Invitational includes jarell Wang, Braylon Bingham, Charlie Gillespie,​ Talen Turnbaugh,‍ and ‍Uy‍ Doan.
