Memorial march for murdered French teacher: “Anger, dismay, but also pride for what the teacher has done”

Samuel Paty was beheaded for showing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in class during a lesson on free speech. The French government promises tough measures against Islamic radicalism: a mosque in a suburb of Paris has to be closed after the spread of a hate video.

France, meanwhile, honors Samuel Paty as a hero. Parliament held a minute of silence as a tribute and the teacher was posthumously awarded the Legion of Honor, the highest French decoration.
