Member of Parliament Corinne Ellemeet will be number two on the GroenLinks candidate list in next March’s elections. The 44-year-old Ellemeet will be presented online by the party on Monday evening together with the other candidates. After the elections, she will become party leader Jesse Klaver’s right-hand man, writes Faithful.
GroenLinks would like to be part of the next cabinet and Ellemeet must play an important role in this. For example, it will be involved in the formation discussions if GroenLinks takes part in them.
Now Ellemeet is still spokesperson for health care in the GroenLinks fraction. She sparked a discussion about ‘over-treating’ older people who have diabetes much controversy led. In the previous elections in 2017, vice-party chairman Kathalijne Buitenweg was the number two of GroenLinks, but she surprisingly announced in the summer that she will stop next year.
The left-wing opposition parties have already made it clear that they want to work together after the elections. As ‘left engine block’ they want to enter the cabinet together, or together in the opposition.
