Meghan Markle and Harry ‘self-isolating’ with Duke feeling ‘helpless’ about Queen

Prince Harry is worried about the Queen and Prince Charles catching coronavirus, wife Meghan Markle has reportedly told friends.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly self-isolating in their Vancouver Island mansion and an insider has revealed they are “grateful” they could spend time with the other royals “before all this insanity began”.

The prince has apparently spoken to his father and grandmother, urging them to “stay safe and take extra precautions” as the Covid-19 epidemic quickly spreads across the globe.

In an attempt to protect her family – including baby son Archie – Meghan has also reportedly given those staff who buy food and run errands “strict hygiene protocol”, including wearing latex gloves “at all times”.

While the duchess is said to have whittled the number of people down to a “select few” who have direct contact to her, Harry and Archie, the friend told the Daily Mail.

However, the couple – who officially step down as senior royals at the end of the month – are understood to be liaising with experts about how best to help during the crisis.

The source emphasised the Sussexes refuse to simply sit “around at home doing nothing” and that Meghan has told close friends the pandemic is a “mental health crisis”.

They are working on an online support system for those who are “most vulnerable” including new mums battling postpartum depression.

“People who lack support systems need reassurance that they are not alone,” the duchess has apparently said.

Harry returned to Canada having completed his final duties as a senior royal last week in the nick of time as President Justin Trudeau announced the closure of the country’s borders to non-North American citizens.

The friend told the Mail that while both Harry and Meghan feel a bit stuck “out in the middle of nowhere” and unable to have the impact they would like, they are “grateful that they are all together as a family”.

Meghan, in particular, the friend said, is refusing to become overwhelmed and has been telling people “panicking won’t do any good” and doesn’t want Archie picking up “stress and tension” from his parents and their staff.

It has been reported the Sussexes have accepted an invitation from the Queen to holiday with the monarch at Balmoral this summer – however, those plans maybe in jeopardy due to coronavirus.

Mirror Online has approached Buckingham Palace for comment.
