Mega hype about “Spider-Man: No Way Home”: MCU blockbuster breaks records from “Avengers 3”, “Star Wars 9” & Co. – Kino News

No MCU movie in the past two years has been so eagerly anticipated as “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. This can already be seen in the advance booking: only for the mega hit “Avengers: Endgame” more tickets were ordered on the first day.

Sony Pictures

In the run-up to the second trailer for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” it was heard in insider circles that Sony was considering showing Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the trailer and thus making their participation official. Anyone who has seen the trailer knows: In the end, they obviously decided against it. Would “Spider-Man: No Way Home” have sparked such a huge hype if the spider had already been let out of the bag with the trailer? One can only speculate about that. One thing is certain: the records are already falling …

Regardless of whether Maguire and Garfield are there or not (and they most likely are): The people in charge at Sony have apparently made exactly the right decision. Because Currently there are increasing reports from large (US) cinema chains and ticket providers who rave about advance booking records.

Only “Avengers: Endgame” was expected more hotly

This is how the cinema ticket seller reports Fandango several records at once: In just two hours, “No Way Home” surpassed the entire pre-sale of tickets on the first day of the MCU predecessor “Black Widow”, the previous record holder of 2021.

Much more impressive but: More tickets were sold for “Spider-Man 3” on the first day of advance sales than for “Avengers 3: Infinity War”, “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”, “Rogue One” and “Star” Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. “

Only for “Avengers 4: Endgame” were more tickets ordered through Fandango, which is still very, very considerable. After all, “Endgame” is the second highest-grossing film of all time, with box office revenues of nearly $ 2.8 billion worldwide. The Canadian cinema chain Cineplex meanwhile reports that “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was actually the biggest advance booking start ever, so apparently even bigger than “Endgame”:

With that one can probably dare the prognosis: The box office results of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (880 million worldwide) and “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (1.13 billion worldwide) should be able to crack “No Way Home”, pandemic or not.

In Germany, the pre-sale for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” has not started yet. The cinema release is on December 15, 2021. Then we will find out at the latest whether Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are slipping into the spider dress again …
