In view of the drastically increasing number of infections with the corona virus, there is now a curfew for bars and restaurants in the US metropolis of New York. All establishments that have a license to sell alcohol will have to close at 10:00 p.m. on Friday evening, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced.

Meetings with more than ten people are also prohibited. The USA is the country hardest hit by the corona pandemic in the world; they are currently experiencing the third – and worst – surge in new infections. Since the pandemic began, more than 10.4 million have contracted the virus in the United States; more than 242,000 people have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.
