According to media estimates, there is no threat of canceling visa-free travel for Ukraine

The EU is discussing the synchronization of visa-free countries with the Union’s visa policy, which Ukraine will not agree to, the media write.

The European Union has put forward a new recommendation for Ukraine on a visa-free regime, writes Eurojust Thursday, September 30th.

“For the first time during the visa-free monitoring, the EU has put forward another” recommendation “to Ukraine, which has not yet been voiced. The European Union wants all visa-free states to” synchronize their visa policy with the European one over time, “the message says.

The publication notes that such a requirement is completely unacceptable for Ukraine. As far as it implies the need to introduce visas for Turkey or other friendly countries.

“However, the EU does not plan to give in and is now discussing what to do with those countries that evade the fulfillment of this requirement. At the same time, Ukraine here also” fell under the distribution of a company “: this requirement is addressed primarily to Serbia, which has become a point of entry to Europe citizens of Asian states, such as from Bangladesh, who are then illegally sent to the EU, “the article says.

It is noted that this issue can be discussed during the Ukraine-EU summit in October.

The publication also reports that the EU document on the mechanism for the suspension of visa-free travel points to Ukraine’s shortcomings in the fight against corruption.

Belgium recalled in the document that in 2017, when deciding on visa liberalization, the EU made concessions and turned a blind eye to the fact that Ukraine did not meet certain anti-corruption indicators of the ELV (“visa-free” action plan). Therefore, Brussels proposes to remind Ukraine of this, as well as the possible consequences for visa-free travel.

As noted in the article, you can forget about the “threat of loss of visa-free travel” for now. It may appear in the event of a deterioration in migration indicators or a rollback of reforms, but there is no reason for this.

Earlier, the media reported that a number of EU countries expressed dissatisfaction with Violations of the rules of the visa-free regime for third countries, including Ukraine.

The Cabinet of Ministers said that this information is not true.

The same rumors denied the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
