Medan, North Sumatra – The Polonia immigration Office in Medan has announced the deportation and subsequent entry ban of an Indian national, identified only as GS, for violating visa regulations.
GS overstayed his visa, which officially expired on December 19, 2024, according to Ridha Syahputra, the head of the immigration office. This action constitutes a violation of Indonesian Immigration Law No.6/2011.
GS, along with another Indian citizen identified as SS, was apprehended on July 26, 2025, in the Bajak neighborhood of Medan Amplas district. The arrests were made following tips from the public.
SS was found to be without a valid stay permit, and his emergency certificate, a one-way travel document issued by the Indian government, had expired on April 4, 2015.
Syahputra confirmed that GS will be prohibited from re-entering Indonesia following his deportation. The case of SS is currently under examination, with the involvement of relevant Indonesian government agencies and the Indian representative office in Medan.
“We do not tolerate any foreign national who violates Indonesian immigration rules,” Syahputra stated.
Indonesian immigration authorities nationwide are continuing their efforts to address foreign nationals found to be in violation of immigration laws.
During the period of January through July of this year, the Makassar Immigration Office, such as, deported 21 foreign nationals from various countries including India, Malaysia, Japan, Pakistan, Cameroon, China, and Turkey for immigration violations.
