Meat consumption in the country has fallen due to lack of purchasing power of Venezuelans

National Vice President of Confagan, Tony De Eliasreported that in the first quarter of the year meat consumption in the country fell due to the lack of purchasing power.

Also, in the interview conducted in Union Radio He specified that meat consumption is between six and 12 kilograms.

On the other hand, De Elías assured that one of the “more serious” problems of the agricultural sector is the acquisition of inputs for animal health.

He affirmed that it would be “ideal” for a basket with agricultural inputs at a special price to arrive in the country “by legal means”.

He explained that it should contain supplies for the reproduction and health for the eradication of foot-and-mouth disease and leptospirosis fever.

“By raising the prices of inputs for the production of meat and milk, this undoubtedly means that we must increase it too,” he said.

De Elías also commented that the fuel deficit and the theft of cattle are other problems that harm the livestock sector.

The Confagan representative highlighted that among the states most affected by crime are Apure and Falcón.
