Measles vaccination Campaign intensifies to Reach 95% Coverage
The state health sector is launching an intensified measles vaccination campaign throughout October, or until supplies last, aiming for 95% coverage, announced Rembrandt Reyes Nájera, General Director of the Health policies and Population Welfare Unit. This effort is supported by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and directed by Dr. Vicente Joel Hernández Navarro.
Currently, 17,687 doses of the measles vaccine are available and being distributed to all health units. The campaign focuses on vaccinating children under 12 months old, with a goal of increasing protection against the disease and limiting its spread.
While current coverage stands at 88%, officials are actively seeking out unvaccinated children under 12 months and encouraging anyone who hasn’t received their first dose to get vaccinated. vaccination points have been established to improve access and increase application rates.
This campaign builds on successful efforts earlier this year to contain a measles outbreak. The 12 cases registered at the beginning of the year were effectively monitored and controlled. Health officials continue to proactively search for potential cases, particularly following instances of exposure in populated areas, and conduct testing and surveillance to prevent further spread. The vaccine is also available to individuals of any age at health units.
