MDG will provide additional billions of oil for aid

Already this spring, the MDG made proposals for a solidarity fund to rebuild Ukraine, help Europe and help poor countries hit by rising food and energy prices. The fund is also expected to spend money on renewable energy, he writes Our country.

The fund was to be financed by the extra billions that flowed in due to the energy situation in Europe following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent closure of gas pipelines and the boycott of the EU.

The proposal was rejected as MDG only received support from KrF and Venstre, but MDG parliamentary representative Lan Marie Nguyen Berg will present the proposal again.

He points out that the EU itself has now proposed a solidarity fund and to receive more money from oil and gas companies.

– It will not hold up historically if Norway keeps all this income alone. Now the government must realize that we live in a new era and that we face the challenges we face, says Lan Marie Nguyen Berg.

– I think Norway is a war profiteer. It’s a very strong word, but I think it’s a description rather than an insult. We can’t do anything about the fact that we earn a lot of money from the war in Ukraine, but we can do something about what we do with that money, she concludes.

MDG wants to give away everything that Norway earns extra from oil and gas following the war this year and next year, totaling NOK 1.9 trillion.
