Marvel Studios strives to approach racial diversity appropriately, giving directors of both sexes and different skin color a chance. This applies essentially to various backstage functions as well as the cast. Due to the possibility of creating a film in the world’s most popular MCU, it is a great ennoblement for every filmmaker.
Anthony Mackie notes that he starred in seven films of Marvel Studios and according to him every producer, director, stuntman, costume designer and so on were white. He adds, however, that the movie issue Black Pantherin which a team of black people was almost completely employed is also a bad and problematic approach. The solution is not at extremes. That’s why he somewhat criticized Marvel Studios’ approach.
– When you create a Black Panther, you have a black director, black producer, costume designer, stuntman. For me it’s more racist than anything else. If you can hire black people only for a “black” movie, do you say they are not good enough to work on the title with most of the white cast? – says Mackie.
In his opinion, racial and gender diversity should take place behind the scenes of movies irrespective of which race and gender is the main character. He adds that you need to employ the best person possible for the function, regardless of race or gender.
