MSG Wannabe Auditions Heat Up with Strong performances and Surprise Reveals on ’What Do You Do When You Play?’
Seoul, South Korea - August 23, 2025 – The latest episode of MBC’s ”what Do You Do When You Play?” featured intense auditions for the next iteration of MSG Wannabe, showcasing powerful vocals and surprising identities among the contestants. The competition is already generating buzz for its high level of talent, reminiscent of the original MSG Wannabe audition process.
Contestant -hwa shared a nostalgic moment, stating, “I thought ‘the stars are losing’ was a song in the 90’s.” She added, “I listened to the song in the 80s. I want to sing well.”
Choi Jung-hoon, visibly moved by the praise from the judges, remarked, “The last time MSG Wannabe Audition was so strong and called. This time I practiced around the emotions to the 80s.” This highlights the contestants’ purposeful effort to capture the essence of the 80s musical era.
The female contestant stage featured performances by teams representing midopa Department Store, Sangbong Terminal, and New York Confectionery, who delivered a rendition of ‘I don’t know love yet’. The identities of the singers were revealed to be Liz of Lalal, solar, and Ive, adding a notable star power to the competition.
Following them, the Olympic Boulevard, the third Han River Bridge, and Maronier Park teams captivated the audience with a powerful performance of ’regret’.The appearance of Lee Yong-jin, Choi Yuri, and a transfer student reportedly caused a stir among the other participants.
Lee Yong-jin expressed surprise at the audience’s reaction to his participation, saying, “I was surprised that the viewers were surprised that the singer Lee Jim participated here.” He also revealed a past connection with Haha and Yoo Jae-seok, having collaborated with them on a music festival 14 years prior.
Choi Yuri shared her excitement, stating, “I’m so nervous.” She also celebrated her top ranking in the ‘short hair’ preliminary song, adding, “I was so happy that the reaction was hotter than I thought, and I was so happy that Yu PD responded well.”
Yoo Jae-seok praised Lee yong-jin’s ability to stand out amongst the strong competition, saying, “It is not easy to show off your presence among the strong talents.” Lee Yong-jin responded, “I wanted to be serious this time.”
The final stage of the episode featured Sundol, hoop boy, and Pimatgol, who performed a ’watercolor’ stage showcasing their vocal abilities. The reveal that Dean Dean, Lee jun-young, and Yoon Do-hyun were among the participants elicited shock and excitement.
Dean Dean humorously described a direction he received,saying,”I didn’t collapse the left chin,but I went to the right angle. And when I took a VCR, I told you how to lie down and sing.”
Yoo jae-seok commented on the overall quality of the performances,stating,”I watched the song and singing,and many people sing well.And the unexpected candidates selected by the crew are Dean Dean. I thought it would fall.”
