While governments around the world are considering banning gasoline and diesel cars in the coming decades, Mazda hopes to use biofuels. The Japanese still see the potential in internal combustion engines and believe that they have a future – for this they only need to develop more environmentally friendly fuels. This may be, for example, algae-based biofuel – Mazda supports a number of research projects to develop it. Fuel from seaweed during combustion emits only carbon dioxide, which was absorbed from the atmosphere during growth.
